“The following information is being shared with you at the request of the Susanville Indian Rancheria . The U.S. District Court upheld the Tribe’s position which involved the question of whether IHS could reject a tribal compact based on the fact that the Tribe charged beneficiaries for pharmacy services. The court ruled in the Tribe's favor, saying that the IHS could not reject the proposed compact and FA on these grounds. A copy of the decision is below.”

BIA Modernization Dialogue Meetings 30 of August 2007
The Assistant Secretary - Indian Affairs has announced "...a series of dialogue meetings with tribes on its Indian Affairs Modernization Initiative...The meetings will be an opportunity for Indian Affairs officials and tribal leaders to discuss how the Office of the Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs, Bureau of Indian Affairs and Bureau of Indian Education should prepare for the effects of projected personnel retirements and rising operations costs, as well as how they can better utilize future technology to improve efficiency."
