NCJTC–Violence Reduction Strategies for Tribal Law Enforcement Series

About
The three virtual Violence Reduction Strategies for Tribal Law Enforcement sessions will provide tribal stakeholders with an opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with other tribes who are working on implementing a comprehensive law enforcement violence reduction program. These sessions are intended for participants who have been working on program implementation and development and would like the opportunity to discuss this topic with others towards the goal of improving service delivery. Each session includes tribal practitioners who will share their experiences related to violence reduction strategies in law enforcement.
Session Details
Session 1 | April 20th 10:30am-12pm PST / 11:30-1pm MST / 12:30-2pm CST/ 1:30-3pm EST
Multi-disciplinary Collaboration: A Law Enforcement Perspective
Participants will gain insight into a Law Enforcement Officer’s perspective; better understand the roles and responsibilities of law enforcement; discuss how to open lines of communication; and learn how violence and victimization stem from the past history of traumatic events.
Session 2 | April 27th 10:30am-12pm PST / 11:30-1pm MST / 12:30-2pm CST / 1:30-3pm EST
Multi-jurisdictional Partnership with a multidisciplinary Team and Case Analysis on Strangulation
Participants will be able to define a multidisciplinary team; identify and strengthen existing multidisciplinary teams; and establish effective communication and collaboration.
Session 3 | May 4th 10:30am-12pm PST / 11:30-1pm MST / 12:30-2pm CST / 1:30-3pm EST
Community Policing Wrap Around: A Community Policing Approach to Reducing Crime in Indian Country
Participants will be able to define the philosophy of community policing and develop strategies to assess and address community problems related to crime and livability.
